What To Look for When Purchasing a CD Printer

There are many things to look for when it comes to purchasing CD disc printers. Disc printers can range in price from around two hundred dollars all the way up to over ten thousand dollars. We know that not everyone has thousands of dollars to spend on CD disc printers, but depending on your needs, there is sure to be one that will be in your price range.

There are two types of that you will have to choose from. Either you will be purchasing an or. Inkjet CD printers cost less than thermal disc printers. A really good inkjet printer can cost you somewhere around two thousand dollars, where as a good quality thermal disc printer will run you in to the price range of over five thousand dollars. Inkjet printers are the kind that you will usually find in homes or small offices. This is because the inks are inexpensive to replace. The key to printing on CDs with inkjet disc printers is that they require specially coated media. use a pure resin based ink that is formulated for plastics and materials like CDs. The ink is designed to dissolve into media and becomes permanently adhered to it. Thermal printers are more commonly used in large production runs. Thermal CD disc printers are more costly.

Another thing that you will need to think about is exactly what is you will be doing with your printer. Are you in the business of producing large amounts of CDs on a daily basis, such as a duplication house? If so, then you more than likely will want to purchase CD disc printers that have an automatic loading system where your production per hour will be pretty high. If you are in a small office situation and you may only be printing a few CDs a day or week, inkjet disc printers may suit your needs just fine. As far as production, a way to figure out what you needs are is to look at how many CDs you actually printed in the last month. Take into considerations that there may be a rush at times and production my increase, but be realistic in your evaluation. Are you really in need of an automatic printer? If you are a small operation, and the time spent loading disc into the printer can be used more constructively doing something else, then an automatic CD printer may be a good choice. They are also a good choice if you are a duplication company that is running off very large quantities of CDs on a regular basis. Otherwise, for short runs, manual loading disc printers should be just fine.

You also need to be efficient. So the speed per disc is very important when purchasing CD disc printers. And keep in mind that if you do not have to printer in color, that printing in black in only saves time and increases your output tremendously. You can print up to two hundred CDs per hour with black ink as opposed to 50 CDs in full color.

There many things to take into consideration when shopping for CD disc printers. The main things to think about are what your production needs to be and of course what your budget is. Take your time and do not rush and you will make a good decision.
